Non-Resident President's Scholarship

2020-2021 Terms and Conditions

Value The President’s Scholarship is one of the most valuable offers available, supporting up to 18 hours of tuition and mandatory fees per semester (fall and spring). This scholarship will be available beginning Fall 2020, for up to eight semesters, or until you receive a baccalaureate degree—whichever comes first. In addition to the tuition scholarship, you have the choice of receiving a $750 cash scholarship per year ($375 per semester), or an approximate $5,757 housing scholarship* per year (see the housing section below for more information). You will be offered the cash scholarship by default, but can request the housing scholarship by simply emailing our office at scholarship@utah.edu. After your initial decision, you may only switch to the housing or cash scholarship once. Exceptions to this policy will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Renewal Requirements

Your scholarship may be renewed each year, provided you maintain a 3.6 cumulative GPA and complete twenty-four (24) credit hours during the two semesters of the academic year (12 hours each, fall and spring semesters), twenty (20) of which must be graded. We will review your standing for these requirements after the completion of your second, fourth, and sixth semesters.

Next Steps

  • If you have not set up your Campus Information Services (CIS) account, visit cis.utah.edu as soon as possible. Log in with your University ID (found in your admissions letter) and your birthdate in MMDDYY format as your password. You can change your password once you log in. Be sure to activate your University e-mail account (UMail) in CIS. All official university communication will be sent to your UMail account.

  • Confirm your intent to enroll, pay the $300 non-refundable enrollment deposit, and accept your scholarship offer by May 1, 2020. Visit admissions.utah.edu/confirm and click the Confirm Intent button. Log in with your University ID (uNID) and CIS password. Confirm your intent to enroll with the Office of Admissions, select Accept and Submit to accept your scholarship and pay the $300 enrollment deposit or request an extension.

  • For more information about the next steps for admitted students, visit: admissions.utah.edu/admitted.

Housing

Your housing scholarship gives you the flexibility of living on-campus at no charge or at a significant discount. The scholarship is good for $5,757 and can only be applied to on-campus housing in any of our residence halls, Officer’s Circle, Kahlert Village, or the Lassonde Studios. The value of the scholarship will fully cover the cost of a double room in Chapel Glen, Gateway Heights and Sage Point. If you choose a housing option of a lesser value, the scholarship will be reduced to that amount. If you choose a housing option of greater value, you would only pay the difference. For example:

  • Double room in Kahlert Village: $7,325- $5,757 = $1,568 for one year.

  • Double room in the Lassonde Studios: $7,986 - $5,757 = $2,229 for one year.

Because housing is limited and fills up quickly, you are encouraged to apply for housing as soon as possible beginning February 10, 2020. The application can be found online by logging in to your CIS page and selecting the link to “Housing U.” It is important to note that all living spaces that accept your scholarship (save for the Marriott Honors Community) require a meal plan. Meal plans will not be covered by your scholarship. For rates and information about living spaces and meal plans (finalized mid to late March) please visit: housing.utah.edu/apply-reserve/rates-n-housing-account. You are also welcome to contact Housing & Residential Education at info@housing.utah.edu or (801) 587-2002 with any questions you might have.

This scholarship offer cannot be combined with any other merit offer from the University Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (UOSFA).

This scholarship is applied to tuition charges and if other scholarships are received, eligibility may be impacted.
